It delves into her childhood trauma and confronts issues of racism, psychological suffering and spiritual pain.

Gender equality activist and the founder of the AbafaziPhambili NPO, Sis’ Mantoa Selepe, has launched her first book, Invincible Pain.

The book, centred on healing and finding peace, explores the depths of emotional and psychological struggles.

The author described “invincible pain” as an overwhelming agony that feels insurmountable.

“It’s the kind of pain that strips a person of everything and feels so invincible that one might think not even therapy could help,” she explained.

Sis’ Mantoa Selepe says her book is about healing and finding peace.

The book, based on true events, tells the story of Nonhlupheko, a woman from Transkei in the Eastern Cape.

It delves into her childhood trauma and confronts issues of racism, psychological suffering and spiritual pain.

Selepe captures the raw emotional journey of a teenager grappling with sexual assault, societal judgement and deep humiliation. Through this poignant narrative, she hopes to foster understanding and empathy.

“I hope men use this book as a source of guidance, wisdom and insight into the silent struggles women endure,” she said.
