The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, launched a vibrant appeal for a revolution in higher education on the African continent, insisting on the need for regional academic integration to achieve the autonomy of knowledge. The declarations were made on Monday in Dakar, on the occasion of the inauguration of the 19th General Assembly of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). The Head of State has clearly positioned intellectual empowerment as an essential prerequisite, affirming that it must be initiated “by education at all levels, including higher education and research”. Going beyond economic and political considerations, Diomaye Faye urged African leaders to seriously consider the integration of higher education and, more broadly, African knowledge. According to him, this process is crucial for development. The AUF General Assembly, which runs until 6 November, is coupled with the 5th World Scientific Francophonie Week, offering a platform of choice for these discussions. I know.
