The African Unity Elections Hall was packed yesterday, on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Awalé party. Militants from the four corners of the country, leaders of the presidential coalition movements, cadres as well as personalities from civil society gathered to celebrate a party still in expansion. At the centre of this fervour: the speech of Dr Abdourahmane Diouf, president of the Awalé party, who delivered a political speech of rare vigour, linking the political destiny of Senegal to the success of the political project of President Diomaye Faye. “If Diomaye fails in the pursuit of the political programme that we have defended together, we will all have failed”, Martèle Dr Abdourahmane Diouf. According to the former minister, the political project carried out by the coalition is today “the last chance to change Senegal definitively”. In his eyes, the failure of President Diomaye constitutes a major risk for the country’s march towards stability and peace. In Adrourahmane Diouf de prévenir: “We have brought down a system, not a man. And if we do not fight to anchor this change, what we have done will lose all meaning. I’m not sure.
