In the framework of the initiative for the return of displaced persons in Casamance, the Senegalese State has put in place concrete measures to facilitate the reintegration of those populations who have lived in exile for more than four decades. Thanks to the Emergency Programme for the Modernisation of Border Areas and Territories (PUMA) and the National Agency for the Revitalisation of Economic and Social Activities in Casamance (ANRAC), more than 130 households have already received material aid for their reconstruction. One of the first notable actions was the distribution of construction materials to these families, including 130 tonnes of cement and materials for the construction of latrines, with the aim of offering the displaced a permanent and dignified living environment. Today, it is an entire nation that stands by your side, aware of your sufferings and determined to support you in this transition. Your courage and resilience are a lesson for us all”. The return project is not limited to the simple supply of construction materials. It also includes several other initiatives aimed at improving the daily lives of the people of the region. Among the measures taken, improving access to health services, drinking water, education and culture of life is a major priority.
