An unprecedented affair followed the locality of Ngékhokh on Saturday 8 November. The remains of a Canadian national, who resided in Saly, had to be exhumed after his burial at the cemetery of Ngékhokh Sérère, following a uprising of the local population. The inhabitants were strongly opposed to the burial of this foreigner in their locality. The main reason for this objection is based on an administrative dispute: the population considers that the burial certificate presented did not comply with the administrative rules in force. According to information from Seneweb, the document had been issued outside the commune of Ngékhokh and had not been recognised as valid by the local authorities, arousing the anger and mobilisation of residents who managed to make their opposition heard.
