Nicolas Sarkozy incarcerated: the request for his release accepted, the ex-president placed under judicial control

The decision is made. Almost three weeks after his entrance behind the high walls of the prison of La Santé, the request for release of Nicolas Sarkozy was being studied this Monday morning. And the Paris Court of Appeal has decided to release the former President of the Republic, imposing on him a judicial control. Among the conditions listed, justice interdit notamment à Nicolas Sarkozy d’entrer en contact avec le garde des Sceaux Gérald Darmanin. The French government has also demanded the release of the two men. The Court ruled on the application for release lodged by the former Head of State’s lawyers in the minutes following his entry into prison on 21 October. The former champion of the right is incarcerated in the prison of the health in Paris because of his conviction with a mandat de dépôt accompanied by a provisional execution for association of perpetrators in the Libyan trial, an unprecedented detention for an ex-president in the history of the French Republic.
