An agent of the urban police of Saly Portudal, sur la petite côte, was arrested on Friday 7 November in a case for the least unusual. The policeman O. Diop, newly assigned to Dakar, is accused of having stolen 5 kg of Indian hemp from a dealer, before attempting to resell it to another trafficker. According to the information of L’Observateur in its edition of this Monday 10 November, l’affaire a commencé lorsque O. Diop contacted the officers of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs (Ocrtis) de Saly. He told them he had apprehended a drug dealer in possession of 10 kg of hemp behind the Djambars institute. On the spot, the agents of l’Ocrtis found that the dealer, accompanied by an indicator, and only 5 kg of hemp and not 10 kg as advertised. The suspect was taken to the police station with his motorcycle and the seized drugs. Intrigued by the absence of O. Diop, the investigators have contacted him. The latter is said to be “au croisement de Saly for a personal affair”.
