Health: the Senegal and the Global Financing Facility open a new chapter

The State of Senegal, through the Ministry of Public Health and Hygiene, has established a partnership with the Global Financing Facility (GFF). The aim is to mobilise innovative resources, aligned on national priorities, to strengthen the health system and guarantee a healthier future for all Senegalese. Equity, quality of care, digitalisation, sustainable financing and good governance are the priority levers that Senegal is working with its partners. “The partnership with the GFF mobilizes innovative resources, aligned on national priorities, to strengthen the health system and guarantee a healthier future for all”, informs a note from the Ministry of Health published on Wednesday. It should be noted that the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr Ibrahima Sy, welcomed the Group of Investors of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) to Dakar for a governance meeting of paramount importance. On this occasion, the Minister reaffirmed Senegal’s priority commitment to the health of women, adolescents and children. This meeting, organised as the GFF celebrates a decade of impact, testifies, according to him, to the recognition of the progress achieved by Senegal. “Through reforms and strategic investments, the country has significantly reduced maternal and infant mortality while improving access to primary health care”, reads the document.
