​The military disappeared in Djinaki was released after mediation efforts 

  Le soldat des Forces Armées Sénégalaises, whose trace had been lost since the incidents that occurred in April last, has been released. The Ministry of Armed Forces announced on 11 November 2025 the surrender of the military to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), marking the end of a period of detention of several months. According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA), the liberation is the result of “the mediation efforts deployed for several months”. Le militaire had been held by an armed group after the clashes that took place in the night of 13 April 2025, in the locality of Djinaki, situated in the department of Bignona. L’État-Major Général des Armées has specified that the military is behaving “well” and that he was immediately taken to Dakar by the military authorities after his arrest. The Ministry took advantage of this announcement to reiterate its commitment to consolidate the ongoing peace efforts. It also underlined that the Armed Forces would maintain their operations to secure persons and property within Military Zone No. 5, while welcoming the multiple initiatives aimed at this objective.
