The measure of dissolution of the student associations and the coordination of students of the Université Assane Seck de Ziguinchor (UASZ) has been officially lifted. This decision, taken by the competent authorities, marks a positive turn in the management of tensions within the establishment. The MEP Guy Marius Sagna, known for his commitment to the rights of students, welcomed this initiative, calling it an essential contribution to the strengthening of peace on campus. Guy Marius Sagna expressed his satisfaction with this survey, thanking in particular the Academic Council of the UASZ, the Rector of the University, and the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. “I congratulate the Academic Council and the Rector of the UASZ and the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for this measure which will contribute to strengthening peace at the UASZ”, he declared. This measure came after a period of unrest which had led to the dissolution of the student structures. In November 2024, following violent incidents, the Academic Council of the UASZ had decided to close the pedagogical campus and to dissolve all student associations, also suspending their renewal activities.
This is the first time that the UASZ has hosted a conference on the subject.
