The association Bébé Basse Solidarité (BBS) has launched a solidarity campaign in support of the Autonomous Sanitation Project of Dakar (PAAD), carried out by the National Sanitation Office of Senegal (ONAS) with the support of the Malick Sow & Associés (MSA) cabinet. This initiative aims to support families from disadvantaged backgrounds in the construction of modern and hygienic latrines, by mobilizing partners, patrons, sponsors and sponsors to cover the contribution of the most vulnerable households. “Thanks to the project, 10 000 latrines are under construction. L’ONAS is responsible for 80% of the financing, while the families must contribute up to 20%. It is precisely here that Bébé Basse Solidarité intervenes, to alleviate this burden for the most deprived”, explains Bébé Basse, coordinator of the association. The campaign, placed under the slogan “A latrine = a dignity”, is part of the continuity of BBS’s actions to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged populations. The association intends thus to promote access to decent sanitary infrastructures, both in schools and in the vulnerable households of the capital. “It all started with a visit to a school in the suburbs, where hundreds of children spent their days without toilets. We are deeply moved by this and have decided to act”, confides the coordinator of BBS. Beyond the construction of latrines, this campaign reflects the will of Bébé Basse Solidarité to reinforce its commitment to a healthier, more dignified and more sustainable life for all Senegalese families.
