The Commission of the District of Parcelles has arrested a defendant in the parquet yesterday, Lamine Niane (19 years old), for murder on the person of Demba Mané (21 years old). It is clear from the facts that both were apprentice chauffeurs in the same public transport minibus. During the journey, Lamine Niane and Demba Mané had had a first altercation at Keur Ayib’s post office over money to buy breakfast. On 20 November, once at the garage in Dakar, Lamine Niane and Demba Mané were again given a performance because of a piece of pastèque that the second had refused to give to the first. It was in these circumstances that Lamine Niane seized the knife, which was used to open the pastry, to stab Demba Mané in the neck.
