The Sédhiou Central Commissariat has dismantled, in the night of 21 to 22 November 2025, a network specialized in cattle theft and clandestine slaughter. Eight individuals have been arrested for association of criminals, theft of cattle at night with medium rolling, clandestine slaughter and possession of weapons. The operation followed an intelligence reporting the suspicious presence of two men in an abandoned house in the Montagne Rouge district, in possession of meat bags. Dispatched on the spot, an intervention team discovered a clandestine massacre organized by a gang. The first two suspects were arrested by the Brigade de recherches, which is continuing the investigation. The latter revealed that the group had been spotting cows in the commune and its environs in the late hours, before slaughtering them and pouring the meat to butchers in the central market. The butchers involved, the Jakarta drivers in charge of transporting the meat and the main authors, a total of eight people, were all arrested in the same night and then placed in custody. The carcass of the animal, as well as the material used, were seized and made available to the court.
