“On behalf of the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Mr Alioune Seck, engineer geologist, is appointed Director General of PETROSEN Exploration and Production, in place of Mr Talla Guèye”, reads the communiqué of the Council of Ministers of this Wednesday, 26 November 2025. Limogé, the latter had spent only eight months at the head of the subsidiary. Talla Guèye, a petroleum engineer, had been appointed on 5 March to head the exploration and production subsidiary of the Société des pétroles du Sénégal in place of Thierno Seydou Ly, who had been appointed to other posts. On taking office on Friday 28 March 2025, the now former Director-General had set out his ambitions for the structure responsible for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. “We will actively prepare the direct takeover of our future assets to become ourselves an operator. We will be more proactive in the technical and strategic decisions with our partners”, he had declared. Talla Guèye justified this strategic orientation by the desire to take full advantage of our resources and their exploitation, up to their transformation, through the development of local content and the training of young people. Behind the numbers, the equations and the technique, our ultimate objective is clear: to improve the lives of the Senegalese.
