The Senegalese and Mauritanian Prime Ministers, Ousmane Sonko and Moctar Ould Diay, have expressed their firm commitment to eliminate the obstacles hindering private investments between Senegal and Mauritania. This declaration was made on Tuesday in Nouakchott during a round table entitled “Secteur public-privé Mauritanie-Sénégal”, organised in the framework of the official visit of the Senegalese head of government to Mauritania. “In our relationship, there must be more Mauritanians in Senegal and Senegalese in Mauritania. All barriers must be removed to allow the actors of the two nations to prosper mutually”, declared the Senegalese Prime Minister. His Mauritanian counterpart, Moctar Ould Diay, echoed this sentiment, insisting on the need to develop solid and lasting partnerships between the private sectors of the two countries. The Senegalese private sector will always be welcome in Mauritania. We undertake to take all necessary measures to eliminate obstacles to cooperation. A framework of cooperation already active: these commitments are part of a strengthened dynamic of cooperation between Senegal and Mauritania, marked by several ministerial exchanges in 2024 in strategic sectors such as agriculture, livestock, oil, energy, mines, fisheries, infrastructure and transport.
