The brigade de recherches de la gendarmerie de Saly Portudal has carried out, this Monday afternoon, an important drug seizure. The operation, which took place in the district of Saly Niakh-Niakhal, allowed the seizure of a 100 kg cargo of hashish with an estimated market value of 120 million CFA francs. It was about 3 p.m. when the gendarmes, on routine patrol, spotted a suspicious vehicle parked near a fence wall. The absence of the conductor and the apparent discretion of the parking immediately aroused their curiosity. A thorough search of the vehicle has been undertaken. During the inspection, the gendarmes discovered: a suitcase and a bag containing 100 packs of hashish, each weighing approximately 1 kg. Five European number plates, carefully concealed under the seats. These elements suggest that the cargo was destined for an international drug trafficking network, with a probable link between Europe and West Africa.
