A young woman was allegedly killed on Monday inside Bekay Pharmacy at the Total Roundabout in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The incident occurred after a man identified as Emma Nwagwu reportedly confronted her over accusations of infidelity.
According to a Facebook post by popular social media influencer, Sen. Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, Nwagwu allegedly stormed into the pharmacy where the woman was receiving treatment and accused her of being involved with another man, said to be a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in the Nsukka area.
Ugwuanyi claimed the DPO was outside in his vehicle at the time of the incident.
Witnesses alleged that during the confrontation, Nwagwu smashed the victim’s head against a wall, causing her to collapse.
She reportedly died on the spot, with an angry crowd attempting to mob the suspect before security personnel intervened.
Ugwuanyi further alleged that Nwagwu attempted to attack the DPO, who then drew his service pistol, prompting bystanders to restrain both men.
The suspect was eventually taken to the Nsukka Police Area Command.
It’s being alleged that the suspect is a known political operative who has worked with successive administrations in Nsukka Local Government.
Police authorities in Enugu are yet to release an official statement on the matter.
