The renovation of the Stade Jules-François Bertrand Bocandé de Ziguinchor and its conversion into a multidisciplinary stadium in accordance with the standards were among the 12 major projects of the commune of Ziguinchor, initiated in 2023 by the former mayor and current Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
