1 killed, several abducted in coordinated bandit attacks in Zamfara

Armed bandits have carried out a series of coordinated attacks in Zamfara State, killing one person and abducting several others in Zurmi and Bungudu Local Government Areas.

The incidents were reported on Tuesday in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the first attack occurred at about 10:40 p.m. on November 30, when bandits invaded Tungar Tsamiya village in Moriki District, Zurmi LGA.

“They shot dead one resident and abducted 10 others. Security forces launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims,” Makama wrote.

Barely hours later, another group of bandits struck Doguwar Gona forest in the same district, abducting 17 men and women who were gathering firewood.

Security personnel are tracking the attackers in a bid to rescue the captives.

In a separate incident in Bungudu LGA, gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles stormed Makwa village in Kurar Mota District at about 12:15 p.m. on December 1, abducting an unconfirmed number of residents.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, supported by police and local vigilante groups, have intensified efforts to rescue the abducted victims and restore calm across the affected communities.

Search operations are ongoing.
