In its operational posture to combat irregular emigration, the territorial gendarmerie units have intensified their actions with the reinforcement of the surveillance of the lagoon and river borders. It is in this dynamic that the brigade de gendarmerie de Joal carried out, on Thursday 16 January, the arrest of 25 candidates for irregular emigration who had gathered in an abandoned house in Mbodiène-Plage, in the commune of Nguéniène, as we learned from Lieutenant-Colonel Ibrahima Ndi. Interrogated on the trial record, they declared to have received sums of between 350 000 and 900 000 CFAF to rally to Europe by sea. They have been gathered together for more than a month in various places, before being apprehended by the gendarmes of this unit of the Compagnie de Mbour. The investigations are continuing to get hold of anyone involved in this criminal network. For any information, the Gendarmerie nationale invites the population to contact the Centre de renseignements et des opérations free of charge at the green numbers 123 or 800 00 20 20, according to the chef de la Division communication des relations publiques de la Maréchaussée.
