The Head Coach of Nigeria’s U-17 national team, Manu Garba, along with the team’s Coordinator, Bello Garba Gusau, will arrive in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, on January 21 for a two-day scouting program designed to enhance the nation’s most successful national team, the U-17 Golden Eaglets, according to Completesports. Reports indicate that since Nigeria will not be part of the 2025 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, 2025, the Nigeria Football Federation is focused on securing qualification for the 2027 tournament by starting preparations early. This will be the first time that a screening process for potential U-17 national team players, known as the Golden Eaglets, will occur in Anambra State. Additional investigations show that the two-day scouting program is a joint initiative with the Anambra State Football Association, aimed at providing young talents in the state a chance to play for the U-17 national team. Chikelue Iloenyosi, Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, shared this information with Completesports. The exercise will be held at the Awka City Stadium. “The goal is to highlight the many young talents in Anambra State and give them a chance to be part of the U-17 national team,” Iloenyosi mentioned. Additionally, Iloenyosi, a former defender for the Super Eagles and U-23 Olympic Eagles, urged all eligible players under 17 in Anambra State to take part in the scouting program. He also invited teams and football academies in the state affiliated with the FA to join the program while emphasizing the importance of not including overaged players. By Sab Osuji.
