Insecurity: Shehu Sani kicks against calls for Matawalle’s sack, gives reasons

Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has described calls for the sack of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, as mischievous.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians are calling on the former governor to tender his resignation over alleged questionable moves with bandits.

Some social media users also called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately sack the minister to pave the way for a better and more competent person.

But Shehu Sani in a post on X, said Matawalle deserves commendation and encouragement, pointing out the minister’s efforts in securing the release of the abducted Kebbi State schoolgirls.

He said, “The call for the sacking of the Minister of State for Defence Matawalle, is undoubtedly politically motivated, mischievous and unnecessary.

“He commendably delivered on securing the release of the Kebbi Girls students along with others, and should be appreciated and encouraged.

“The leadership of the military and other security services are still directly responsible for the battle against these criminal bandits and terrorists.”

Shehu Sani also commended President Tinubu for nominating former Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa as new Minister of Defence.

“With Christopher Musa taking charge of the Defence Ministry, I’m confident that he will steer the Ministry in the right direction,” he added.
