Tsakani – Njabulo ‘Karma 723’ Marima (25) is a hip-hop artist who started writing his own songs, when he was in Grade 11, as a method of self-expression.
Njabulo plays a rare genre called Kasi Trap and gained inspiration for the genre from K.O and Siya Shezi.
“I have always loved telling stories and being behind the mic half the time allows me to speak life into existence, talk about the struggles we face in the township and the hustles we have to do in order to succeed.
“All I want is to make songs that provide people with hope. The youth deserves to know that they can achieve whatever they desire and nothing is ever impossible.
“I want to encourage younger children to stay off the streets, focus on their studies. They should know that we all have a purpose in life and should never give up on our destiny,” said Njabulo.
Njabulo recently released a song titled Day In Day Out which is out and available on all streaming platforms. He is also working on an EP titled Most Hated which is due to be released in June.
“The EP talks about life after matric, the challenges we get to experiences, meeting new people and experiencing new atmospheres while in college or university.
“In this EP, I also tell my own story. I paint a picture based on my own experiences, challenges and my inspirational moments,” he added.
Njabulo added that he aspires to become a motivational speaker, citing music has changed his life and has given him a sense of belonging.
“I now know who I am, where I come from and where I am going, it gave me a purpose,” he mentioned.
