According to an analysis relayed by our confrères de L’As, the current political dynamic in Senegal is marked by a growing balance of power between the Takku Wàllu movement and the tenants of power. In this tense climate, the question of the extradition of former President Macky Sall, raised by some actors, raises profound questions. Is it a legitimate legal necessity or a political maneuver to neutralize a key figure of the opposition? The Takku Wallu movement embodies a form of political and social resistance to the established order. In a post-transition context, where the executive seeks to consolidate its authority, this balance of power becomes an indicator of latent tensions. It translates the battle for control of the political space, notably between those who aspire to turn the page definitively on Macky Sall and his supporters, who seek to preserve his influence on the national scene. The idea of an extradition of Macky Sall is based on the hypothesis that he could be prosecuted for deeds committed during his mandate. However, for observers and certain members of his entourage, such an approach would be more in keeping with the logic of “political command”.
