Abidjan: a Senegalese national has died during a police interrogation
Demba Sow, a 57-year-old Senegalese national, died during a violent police interrogation in a furnished apartment where he resided in Abidjan. According to local sources, the forces of order have broken the door of the apartment violently, before intervening muscularly. In the course of the ensuing altercation, Demba Sow collapsed on the stairs and suffered a heart attack which unfortunately led to his death. Originally from the city of Linguère, more precisely from Barkédji, Demba Sow resided mainly in Congo, but regularly traveled back and forth between the Ivory Coast and this Central African country due to his professional activities. According to Senegalese nationals in Abidjan, the presence of El Malick Ndiaye in the Ivorian capital played a significant role in the evolution of the case. The situation quickly attracted attention and the police involved in the interrogation were arrested by the Ivorian authorities to answer for their actions. An investigation was opened to determine the exact causes of the death of Demba Sow.
