The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has delivered a crushing blow to the Information Regulator’s bid to block the publication of matric results, upholding an appeal by the Department of Basic Education, and dismissing the regulator’s key arguments as “fanciful” and likening their approach to “a poorly constructed thought experiment”.
