
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa as the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, OEQA, with the appointment taking immediate effect.
A statement posted on the state government’s official X handle on Friday confirmed that Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday at the Office of the Head of Service, Alausa, Ikeja.
The letter was formally presented by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro.
Described as a seasoned education administrator, Ogunmuyiwa brings more than 25 years of expertise in school evaluation, planning, quality assurance processes and educational leadership within the Lagos State public service.
He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, two master’s degrees in Educational Administration and in Guidance and Counselling, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.
Throughout his career, he has served in several strategic capacities within OEQA, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programmes.
In these roles, he supervised accreditation processes, quality monitoring across schools, and various system-improvement initiatives.
A multi-award-winning public officer, Ogunmuyiwa was repeatedly honoured as OEQA’s Best Staff between 2012 and 2022.
Beyond his administrative record, he is an active member of multiple professional bodies and has made significant contributions to teacher development, school improvement frameworks and community-focused educational programmes.
He also mentors civil servants and young professionals and has facilitated numerous training sessions for both government agencies and private organisations.
Congratulating him on the appointment, Agoro expressed confidence in his capacity to elevate education standards in the state.
“I am confident that Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State, and I urge him to continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate,” the Head of Service stated.
