The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, says it has begun investigating claims that a baby died at the hospital due to a power outage.
The hospital made the revelation through its Public relations unit shortly after a lawyer identified as M.A. Danlami shared a post on social media alleging that a woman lost her baby because there was no electricity at the facility.
FMC Jalingo said the matter has been reported to the hospitalās management and that a full investigation is ongoing to confirm what actually happened.
The hospital stated that it takes all complaints seriously, especially those related to patient safety and emergency care, and is determined to identify and fix any problems that may affect healthcare services.
While admitting that public hospitals in Nigeria often face infrastructure challenges, the management said FMC Jalingo has backup plans and emergency systems in place to reduce the impact of such problems on critical medical services.
The hospital added that it has handled similar complaints in the past and taken corrective steps where necessary, assuring the public that the current investigation will be fair and based on facts.
