A family drama of extreme violence occurred last Tuesday in Mbar Toubab, in the district of Keur Momar Sarr. A shepherd, identified under the initials D.S., is accused of “attempted rape and murder” on the wife of his great brother, whom he coveted. According to the newspaper, the events took place while C.S., the grand brother of the accused, was absent for work in the city, leaving his wife alone with his younger brother at the bivouac. Taking advantage of this solitude, D.S. has infiltrated into the conjugal chamber and attempted to abuse his sister-in-law. Faced with the young woman’s refusal, he attacked her with an axe, giving her several blows to the head, back and arms. Meanwhile, his aggressor returned calmly to his room, insensitive to the scene of distress. After being kept in custody, D.S. was transferred to the Louga courthouse last Friday. He will be heard this Monday by the investigating judge.
