
A tragic incident occurred in Hotoro Maraba area of Tarauni local government area in Kano State, where a young man allegedly killed an Adhan caller during the early morning on Monday.
The victim, identified as Malam Kasim, was reportedly calling the Adhan for the Asuba (dawn) prayer inside a mosque when the suspect allegedly slit his throat.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the attack took place within the mosque premises, throwing the community into shock and panic.
Following the incident, angry youths in the area reportedly carried out a reprisal attack, resulting in the death of the suspected assailant on the spot.
One of the victim’s daughters, Maryam Kasim, confirmed the incident, saying the family found her father’s body inside the mosque, with visible signs of violence around the area.
“We discovered our father’s body in the mosque. There were clear signs of a struggle, and the entire community was thrown into fear,” she said.
Security operatives were immediately deployed to the area to prevent further unrest and restore calm, as residents gathered in anger and disbelief over the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain an official response from the Kano State Police Command were unsuccessful.
However, authorities are expected to issue a statement and provide further details as investigations continue.
