All commercial vehicles operating in Cross River State are to use approved State colour and a mandatory security number system.
The Commissioner for transport, Ene Cobham, said the directive billed to take effect from January 31, 2026, is aimed at promoting uniformity, improving regulation and enhancing security within the transport sector.
In a statement signed Cobham, the state government ordered the commercial vehicle operators to comply strictly, warning that defaulters will face sanctions once enforcement begins.
The government has resolved to sanitise the transport sector and strengthen public safety.
Cobham stressed that the order applies to all categories of commercial vehicles, transport unions and other stakeholders operating within the state.
Cobham said, “Government will no longer tolerate the use or re-introduction of off-colour vehicles.”
The statement further disclosed that the policy would help safeguard lives and property, curb criminal activities involving commercial vehicles and align with the state government’s vision of a clean, safe and well-regulated transportation system.
“The ministry does not recognise the re-introduction of off-colours or any deviation from the approved state colours,” the statement said, adding that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on operators who fail to comply with the directive.
