In the Carabao Cup, Arteta attributed Arsenal’s loss to Newcastle to player fatigue.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, attributed his team’s loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup’s second leg to fatigue. Newcastle clinched a 2-0 victory, resulting in a 4-0 aggregate win, thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon. The Gunners aimed to mirror their previous performance against Manchester City but fell short throughout the match. In his post-match remarks, Arteta stated, “We were physically tired; we have played many matches every three days, and we anticipated this would be a high-intensity game. Emotionally, it was also a very different challenge, and we needed to maintain our belief until the end, but the game slipped away from us. He acknowledged that the tie was effectively lost in the first leg, marking a missed opportunity to reach the final. “We definitely complicated things for ourselves,” he remarked. “If you reach the semi-finals but fail to advance to the finals, it’s quite significant.” Arsenal will shift their focus to the Premier League and UEFA Champions League in hopes of securing silverware this season. They currently sit in second place in the Premier League and have advanced to the round of 16 in the Champions League.
