This morning, a major strategic breakthrough was announced with the start of production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) field, situated at the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal. This ambitious project, carried out by a partnership between Kosmos Energy, BP, the PETROSEN Group and the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH), marks a crucial stage in the energy development of the region. This process transforms the gas into LNG, ready to be exported. The first load of LNG, a key stage of the project, is expected by the end of the quarter. With reduced navigation distances to Europe, this project comes at a crucial moment, responding to a pressing energy demand on the European continent. Greater Tortue Ahmeyim thus represents a turning point for regional cooperation and for the integration of the two countries in the global energy supply chain.
