Hyprop Spreads Festive Cheer This Christmas Through Heartfelt Acts Of GivingĀ

Cape Town – Christmas at Hyprop Malls around the country centres on shared moments of kindness, families gathering, and thoughtful acts of generosity that continue to make a difference long after the festive season has passed.

This year, Hyprop brings that spirit to life through two national corporate social investment initiatives: the Santa Shoebox Project and the return of the Disney Charity Trees.

These initiatives invite shoppers to share in moments that create genuine impact for children across South Africa.

Santa Shoebox Project: Giving that lasts beyond Christmas

Through the Santa Shoebox Project, Hyprop’s support reaches well beyond December.

In 2025, the Hyprop Foundation donated R400 000 to the Santa Shoebox Legacy Project, funding the training of 441 early childhood development teachers.

This contribution is set to positively influence 7,334 young learners, strengthening early education where it matters most.

The generosity of shoppers once again told a powerful story.

A total of 76 565 Santa Shoeboxes were donated nationally, with 24,717 boxes dropped off at Hyprop centres.

Families arrived with boxes packed thoughtfully with essentials and small treats at main collection points, including Canal Walk, Somerset Mall, The Glen, Woodlands, and Clearwater, supported by Drop and Go facilities at Table Bay Mall, CapeGate, Rosebank Mall, and Hyde Park Corner.

ā€œThere is something incredibly special about watching people arrive with shoeboxes they have prepared with care,ā€ said Christie Stanbridge, Hyprop’s Brand and Campaigns Marketing Manager.

ā€œEach box represents a child being thought of.

ā€œThrough our centres and the work of the Foundation, we are able to turn those moments of kindness into meaningful, lasting change.ā€

Disney Charity Trees: Where festive magic meets generosity

Adding a sense of wonder to mall spaces, the Disney Charity Trees return to Hyprop centres.

Decorated with Disney-themed plush toys and presented in association with FNB, PEP, Toys R Us, and Lego, the trees offer a simple and heartfelt way to support Reach for a Dream.

Shoppers are invited to donate R50 by scanning the QR codes located at the trees.

Each donation supports children facing life-threatening illnesses and offers donors a chance to win a giant Mickey plush.

All plush toys displayed on the trees will be donated to Reach for a Dream, ensuring the magic reaches far beyond the festive display.

ā€œThe Disney Charity Trees bring joy in a way that feels natural and family-focused,ā€ said Stanbridge.

ā€œThey show how a small contribution, shared by many, can bring comfort and happiness to children who need it most.ā€

Festive moments for families across Hyprop malls

Festive cheer continues with a programme of Disney-inspired holiday activities across participating centres.

Canal Walk welcomes families to Stitch-themed Holiday Slides, Somerset Mall and Woodlands offer hands-on slime experiences, with Woodlands also featuring themed treats and a large Disney colouring wall.

CapeGate’s popular Disney-inspired ice rink returns, and Clearwater Mall presents creative workshops ranging from fluffy slime to island-style paint sessions.

Through these initiatives, Hyprop once again transforms its malls into spaces where generosity feels personal, shared moments matter, and the true spirit of Christmas finds a home.
