
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reacted to the untimely passing of Sunday Olatuyi, a cameraman with ADBN Television and a member of the INEC Press Corps, IPC.
The 40-year-old cameraman died on Saturday following an injury sustained after he was hit by a speeding vehicle along Lugbe, Airport Road, Abuja.
Olatuyi lost his life in the fatal automobile accident while on his way home after the close of business on that day.
Adedayo Oketola, the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, in a statement on Sunday, lamented the untimely demise of Olatuyi who he described as a dedicated cameraman.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we received the news of the tragic passing of Mr Sunday Olatuyi, a dedicated cameraman with ADBN Television and a valued member of the INEC Press Corps,” he said.
“Mr Olatuyi lost his life in a fatal automobile accident while on his way home, a journey that ended far too soon for a man who was not just a cameraman, but a committed professional who played a vital role in covering the activities of the Commission.
“On behalf of the Honourable Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, we extend our deepest condolences to the Olatunji family, ADBN Television, and the entire Press Corps. We share in your grief and pray for the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“As we mourn Mr Olatuyi, we pray that Almighty God grants all members of the Press Corps divine protection and preserves your lives as you continue to serve the nation.
“May the soul of Mr Olatunji rest in perfect peace.”
