Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has had his Twitch account placed under temporary suspension, only days after making history with a viral livestream featuring Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The highly publicised broadcast, held on December 17, 2025, drew huge global attention and propelled Carter Efe to the top of Africa’s Twitch rankings, where he gained more than 405,000 followers and became the continent’s most-followed streamer on the platform.
On Monday, Carter Efe revealed that Twitch had issued a four-month suspension on his account, stating that the action was due to breaches of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
The streaming platform, however, did not provide clear information on the specific violations involved.
The setback comes shortly after the comedian overtook several well-known Nigerian streamers, including Shank Comics, and delivered one of Twitch’s most-viewed livestreams in collaboration with Davido.
After the news broke, fans flooded his social media platforms with messages of support, hailing him as a “joy giver” and appealing to Twitch to review and possibly reverse the suspension.
Online discussions have since suggested that the ban may have resulted from mass reporting related to remarks or behaviour during the livestream.
Meanwhile, claims that Carter Efe was also banned from other digital platforms were later debunked.
The situation has left many followers disappointed, particularly as it unfolds during the festive period, with supporters hoping for a quick and positive resolution.
