Rivers United head coach, Yemi Olarewaju, has hailed his players for their performance in the 1-1 draw against Katsina United.
Azeez Falolu and Stephen Manyo were on target for Katsina United and Rivers respectively in Ilorin on Monday.
Olanrewaju believes his team deserved more from the game.
He admitted that their defensive lapses gifted Katsina United a chance to score .
“We’re the better side despite the tiredness from my players,” Olanrewaju stated after the game.
“We squeezed them just that mistake at the back which gave them a chance to score.
“Its a game that we deserved the victory but considering how many games we have played in recent days I will say we happy with the result.”
Rivers United maintained their position at the top of the league table with 34 points.
They will host Rangers in Port Harcourt this weekend.
