Malick Gakou raises the alarm about the worrying situation of the country’s public finances, which he calls an “economic genocide” without precedent in the contemporary history of Senegal. It warns against the potentially devastating consequences of this past management, which could endanger the fundamental equilibrium of society and jeopardize the future of future generations. In this context, it commends the “courage and determination” of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, engaged in a process of redress to preserve the superior interests of the nation. “It is imperative to draw all the consequences of this financial calamity and to situate the responsibilities, both individual and collective, in order to avoid a repetition of such a scenario”, he affirms. Malick Gakou thus calls for a rigorous and transparent management of public resources, an essential condition for guaranteeing a harmonious and sustainable development of the country.
