News Ghana has issued a retraction and an apology regarding a misleading article that was aimed at Justina Nelson, the Acting CEO of MIFF.

Online news outlet News Ghana has removed a recent false report about Justina Nelson, the acting CEO of Minerals Income &amp, Investment Fund ( MIIF), and offered an unqualified apology for any reputational damage caused.
US$ 60M Scandal Rocks Ghana’s Mining Sector, which contained a number of unfounded claims against MIFF and the Fund’s most recent appointment as CEO, was just published in News Ghana.
According to the gate, upon further evaluation they discovered their complaints were’ inaccurate and misleading’.
They claimed that “our monitoring did not fully account for her actions and intentions and may have infuriated her.” We regret greatly any problems or reputational damage Ms. Nelson may have experienced as a result of this publication.
Following the Office of the Special Prosecutor ( OSP)’s ( OSP) most recently revealing that the Fund was being investigated, Justina Nelson has been the subject of a string of fabricated and somewhat politically motivated hit pieces in a number of Ghanaian newspapers and media portals.
The investigation, largely targeted at dealings that occurred under the leadership of former Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ), Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, was in relation to payments made to Agyapa Royalties Limited, Small Scale Mining Incubation Programme ( SSMIP), Quarry Value Addition Programme ( QVAP ) and Asante Gold Corporation.
These false reports, like the News Ghana record, were a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the novel MIIF CEO. They were intended to disparage the acting CEO for the crimes of the previous administration.
In their contraction and explanation, News Ghana pointed out that Justina Nelson’s claims that she had illegally moved cash around at MIIF were untrue.
We acknowledge that Ms. Nelson complied with the law when she responded to the whistleblower’s demand, and that our reporting failed to provide a fair and objective assessment of the situation, according to News Ghana.
” We sincerely apologize for any uncertainty, mistake, or damage our content may include caused to her and the Minerals Income and Investment Fund”,
The false claims against Justina Nelson left her with catastrophic injury, and News Ghana’s explanation, while a step in the right direction, is just the tip of the iceberg. The half-baked and malignant report was distributed by a number of other outlets, and any social journalists who follow suit if repudiate and apologize to Nelson. She has only been in office at MIIF for a month and has so far only carried out her duties with remarkable dedication, professionalism, and complete compliance with the laws and constitution of Ghana and the laws governing MIIF.
