The President of the Republic of Senegal, Mr Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, began the second day of the 38th Summit of the African Union with a meeting with Mr António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. Mr Guterres welcomed Senegal’s role as an influential and respected voice on the international scene and expressed his wish to see President Faye play a key role in defending the great global causes. The Senegalese Head of State, for his part, reaffirmed his commitment to peace, justice and the preservation of the great African institutions built by the continent’s founding fathers. He congratulated him on his commitment and the progress achieved in terms of African integration, while underlining the challenges ahead for the development of the continent. Through these strategic meetings, Senegal reaffirms its role as an engaged and influential nation, determined to promote international cooperation and African unity.
