Le Président Bassirou Diomaye Faye: A leader who is awakening Africa for a pan-Africanism of revolution! (Parliament adopted the resolution)

On 18 February 2024, during the 38th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, a decisive turning point for Africa was drawn up. Under the leadership of His Excellency Mr Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, elected by an exemplary ballot, the continent has resolutely embarked on the path of a bold renaissance, proclaimed under the theme ‘Année de la justice pour les Africains et les personnes d’ascendance africaine par le biais de réparations’. President Faye, rapporteur designated by his peers, has brilliantly defended this vision of a sovereign and proud Africa. He called on each of us to rise up and participate in this great collective movement to forge a radiant future. President Faye called for autonomy and solidarity among African nations, calling for a collective mobilization to build a bright future. This ambition resonates deeply with the pan-Africanist vision of his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, who inspires to dream of a united Africa, resilient and determined to emancipate itself from outside influences. Together, they embody a powerful movement: an Africa that rises, unites and affirms its rights on the world stage. Under the leadership of President Faye, Senegal is positioned as the beacon of this renaissance, illuminating the path for other nations. During this conference, President Faye also exchanged with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, who recognized the influential and respected voice of Senegal on the international scene. This support strengthens our position as a leader in the defence of the values of justice and equality, placing us at the heart of geopolitical discussions.
