Akwa United head coach Paul Offor has commended his players for the 2-0 win over Calabar Rovers.
Yannick Menegbe and Anietie Uko sealed maximum points for the Promise Keepers at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Saturday.
It was Calabar Rovers’ first home loss in the Nigeria National League, NNL, this season.
Offor hailed his players determination and resilience in getting the victory in the game.
“I’m very happy with the effort and performance. It was a good display of determination and zeal that earned us the three points—kudos to the boys,” Offor stated in a post-match interview.
“The most satisfying aspect was the resilience we showed under difficult conditions against a Rovers side that had been unbeaten at home. To come here and win with a clean sheet shows the massive character in this team.”
Akwa United moved to first position in the NNL Conference B table with 19 points following the win.
