Senegalese struggle: the arena under tension after the suspension of police security

The National Committee for the Management of Wrestling (CNG) reacted swiftly after the police’s decision to suspend, until a new order, the security coverage of wrestling matches. In an interview with L’Observateur, Moustapha Kandji, spokesman for the CNG, recalled the rules in force concerning security in the arena. “The regulation stipulates that without police presence, no combat de lutte can take place”, he said. The first impact could be the confrontation between Prince et Modou Anta, scheduled for Sunday 23 February. In its communiqué announcing the suspension of the security cover, the police justified its decision by the non-respect of the injunctions and recommendations addressed to the actors of the fight, whether it is the CNG, the promoters or the wrestlers themselves. This measure is particularly due to the malfunctions observed during the combat Ama Baldé-Franc, organized last Sunday. The future of the next battles will therefore depend on the discussions between the various parties involved and the implementation of the security requirements demanded by the forces of order.
