The alarming state of the Simal bridge: the security of the users threatened…

The village of Simal, situated in the district of Fimela, département de Fatick, faces a situation difficile depuis plusieurs mois. The bridge that connects the locality to the rest of the region has been closed to traffic for five months, due to its state of advanced degradation. This situation has plunged the village into a deep enclave, with dramatic consequences for the local population. Cheikh Ngom, a son of the land and a player in development, recently spoke to the RFM on the phone to denounce the inaction of the authorities in the face of this worrying situation. According to him, the Simal Bridge is so degraded that it has become impracticable, and yet, no visit of the authorities has taken place to assess the situation on the spot. “Since the bridge is closed, the authorities have not come here to inquire about the situation. The population is tired, and I believe that the State has forgotten Simal”, he declared, thus expressing the frustration and despair of the inhabitants. But there are particularly serious repercussions for students who have to go to the Lycée de Fimela. These are forced to cross the waters to reach their school.
