Additionally, ESSENCE will receive the Vanguard Award for Fashion during the Creative Honors segment of the 56th NAACP Image Awards. (Black PR Wire) LOS ANGELES – The NAACP has recently declared that Jotaka Eaddy, Founder and CEO of #WinWithBlackWomen, will be honored with the newly established Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Impact Award, alongside ESSENCE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. The Vanguard Award for Fashion will be presented at the Creative Honors of the 56th NAACP Image Awards on Friday, February 21, in Los Angeles. Additionally, the NAACP Image Awards Committee revealed that the Social Justice Impact Award has been renamed to commemorate the life and contributions of civil rights activist Mildred Bond Roxborough. Roxborough has been associated with the NAACP for more than 203 years, positioning her as the staff member with the longest tenure in the organization’s history. She started her career in 1954 as a national field secretary. She has held multiple positions such as administrative assistant to the executive director, director of operations, director of programs, director of events, and director of development, collaborating with notable civil rights figures and NAACP leaders, including Medgar Evers, Myrlie Evers-Williams, Vernon Jordan, Judge Constance Baker Motley, and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.
