Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has reacted to the threat by three former governors of the State to drag him to the Court for running the State’s functions from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
The Governor, who was responding to questions about the threat during his monthly media chat with journalists on Thursday, said that he had not breached the Nigerian constitution by operating from his residence.
He explained that his continued operation from his personal residence was because of the poor condition he met the Government House facility, when he took over leadership.
He noted that reconstruction of the dilapidated Government House was ongoing, arguing that Abia people are more interested in good governance they are getting than where he (Otti) is operating from.
“Somebody said he will sue me for not operating from his house in Umuahia; well, I am waiting for the suit. My Lawyers are prepared.
“I have looked at the constitution and I didn’t see where there is a provision that I must operate from a place”, Otti said.
Governor Otti said that his administration would not be distracted by what he described as “noise” coming from his critics, assuring Abia people that ongoing projects in roads, education, health and electricity would continue across the State.
The Governor further urged the Abia citizens to remain security conscious by reporting suspicious movements and elements to the nearest security points.
