Iwobi: I Was a Lively and Unconventional Kid

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi revealed that he was a lively and eccentric child during his upbringing. In an interview with the Fulham Fix Podcast, he mentioned that as a kid, he would kick chairs and anything around him. He also emphasized that his father is his greatest supporter, often seen wearing his jersey. “My parents said I was able to run before I even learned to walk.” They mentioned that once I sat down, I would instantly take off running around the apartment, and they thought I was hyperactive. As a child, I was full of energy, constantly running around, sliding into balloons, and kicking chairs and anything else I could find, so I was quite the eccentric kid,” said the former Everton player on the Fulham Fix Podcast. “My dad is always dressed in a training kit or one of my jerseys at home, always prepared for action, but it can be a bit embarrassing at times. When we go out, he sports a jersey with Iwobi prominently displayed on the back, and I tell him to calm down, but he simply feels proud. “He doesn’t elaborate much on my performance.” He has knowledge of football since he played in Nigeria, similar to my uncle [Jay-Jay Okocha], which means he comprehends the game. These days, he simply praises me by saying ‘well done.’ Occasionally, he questions why I didn’t take a shot when I had the opportunity, but I believe that’s just part of being a dad,” Iwobi said in closing.
