Kwa-Thema – Afrohouse singer, songwriter and producer Malik Zwane will launch his 16-track album in Daveyton on March 9.
Zwane released his self-titled album, Malik, in November 2024. The album, a combination of Afrosoul, Afrobeat, a few RnB rhythms and singalong melodies like Testify, has won the hearts of many.
It also has heart-rending tunes like Bayakhula Abantwana Bam and inspirational songs like Moya Wami, Fly, featuring Vusi Nova, and the vibey tracks Ungowam, Gqeberha and Pata Pata, to mention a few.
Malik said he had plenty of time to cook up this album, and it is special to him, considering the inspiration behind it and the experience amassed over the years.
“I was lucky and blessed to work with hard-working and talented musicians like Trevor Mako, Dlala Regal, Gedleza, Ringo Madlingozi and Vusi Nova, who are featured in the album. I look forward to more collaborations with artists like Thando Zide, Thandiswa Mazwai and Manana,” added Zwane.

His debut album, I Am Free, was released in 2006 under the GhettoRuff record label, with which he parted ways in 2012. He attributed his departure to a need to grow as a musician and release music under his label, Likstar Entertainment.
“I have achieved and lost during my journey in the music industry. My latest work produced the opening sequence for the Gqeberha telenovela.
“I came back because I still have a lot to offer the industry. I felt a vacuum in me and that something I love so much was being neglected.
“My music heals and makes one feel they are not alone. People relate to the issues I write about. It was imperative to come back. I could no longer deprive myself and people of it.”
Zwane will be at Café 69 Pub & Restaurant, KwaThema, on March 2 as a precursor to the album’s launch.
