Maiduguri rising strong – NBA President hails world-class Appeal Court complex

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Afam Osigwe, has conducted an inspection tour of the newly refurbished Court of Appeal complex, Maiduguri Division, ahead of the Association’s National Executive Council meeting scheduled to take place in Borno State.

Speaking during the visit, the NBA president commended the facility, describing it as a first-rate judicial structure fully prepared for operations.

He noted that the architectural layout, operational efficiency, and overall environment of the complex align with contemporary standards expected of an appellate court.

Osigwe also expressed satisfaction with the high-quality finishing and the meticulous attention given to both the courtrooms and auxiliary facilities.

The NBA president further emphasised the symbolic importance of the complex’s location within Maiduguri, stating that it stands as a strong testament to resilience, regeneration, and institutional capacity.

He observed that the establishment of such a prominent judicial edifice demonstrates the city’s ability to accommodate key national institutions and effectively support the administration of justice at the highest level.

According to him, the Court of Appeal complex will play a vital role in serving the judicial needs of Borno State and the wider North-East by improving access to justice, strengthening appellate processes, and boosting public trust in the legal system.

The assessment visit forms part of the NBA’s broader engagements in Maiduguri and reflects the Association’s resolve to project the city beyond outdated perceptions of insecurity.

Osigwe noted that Maiduguri continues to show signs of progress, stability, and preparedness to host major national events, institutions, and professional activities.
