A security and intelligence expert, Yahuza Getso, has said the security agencies cannot deny the knowledge of criminal elements terrorising Kwara State for over 8 years.
Getso made this statement on Friday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Morning Brief’.
His remark followed the recent bandits’ attack on Kwara community where over 100 people were killed.
The incident has sparked uproar from different quarters of the country and even beyond.
Speaking on the attack, Getso said, why are the terrorists left there unchallenged?
“A lot of combined criminal activity, well coordinated, well organized criminal activity has been happening there right since the years 2016, 2017 and 2018, and note that I have made it very clear that whatever the situation is, the intelligence personnel or the security personnel have not been doing what they’re supposed to do.
“They could have prevented the occurrence or the happening of this carnage, because in fact, all necessary measures were taken to flushing out whosoever is around that radius, within the radius of 75 to 80 kilometres.
“They wouldn’t have been present, and there wouldn’t have been a conflict between the community and the criminal.
“The security agencies cannot tell me that they didn’t know about the presence of these criminals for the last 8 to 9 years,” he said.
